How the CRS works
Canada's Express Entry system ranks candidates in the pool using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) โ a 1,200-point scale. IRCC holds rounds of invitations (draws) and invites the highest-ranked candidates to apply for permanent residence.
Your score comes from four groups: A. core human capital (age, education, language, Canadian work โ max 500/460), B. spouse factors (max 40), C. skill transferability (max 100), and D. additional points such as a provincial nomination (+600) or French bilingualism (+25/+50).
Note: arranged-employment (job offer) bonus points were removed in March 2025 and no longer add CRS points.
